First off, my apologies for not posting this sooner, my world has gotten even crazier if that is possible! Added job #7 and thought it would not be a big deal, but I’ve been amazed how leaving the house to go to an office 3 days a week, and the added commute cuts into my overall productivity!
About a week ago on Wednesday, 30 AWESOME Flood Student Missions teens came to GC and packed our Summer Bags of Love. In a little over an hour they packed close to 100 bags with enough breakfasts and lunches to feed 2 children out of one bag for a week. We had a great time visiting and sharing stories about all our dear families and the very real need in Forsyth County for help in feeding the hungry. They went back to their homes and churches and shared our mission with their friends and now the First Redeemer Middle School youth group is planning a trip over to help us. We’re thinking we’ll probably do “back to school” bags or toiletries or something – both will be huge needs in the next month or so. Everyone be stocking up as sales come up so when the call goes out we can “flood” the building with the needed supplies!
Also, if you’ve been thinking about volunteering and haven’t done so in awhile – we need you. With Summer comes Summer vacations so many of our regular volunteers are coming and going on vacations so we’re needing an infusion of additional workers (PS- I promise to check and be sure the AC is on for the entire afternoon). Steve and I don’t use the AC at our house to keep down expenses so I’m finding I love our Sundays EVEN MORE!!!
Although if the temps really do go over 100 in the next day or two we may have to pray for additional finances and turn it on just so we can sleep at night – having a bedroom with no windows is a blessing in Winter, but not so much in Summer.
We’re making Red Beans and Rice this Sunday and Beanie Weenie Casserole next week so we could use some Smoked Sausage and some hot dogs if anyone wants to donate – just know I need to know about it BEFORE my shopping trip to get missing items on Saturday. Sorry for the short notice, time just seems to creep up on me anymore.
Today is my sweetheart’s birthday and I’m trying to get everything done on his cake so I’d best go get busy… but just wanted one more time to say a HUGE thank you to all the delightful young folk who came and assembled the bags (they donated suffient funds to buy over 100 bags too so we had more than enough to be able to add additional families for next summer!!!) God is so very good. If James sends me some pics of our great evening together I’ll be sure to get them posted!
Love everyone! Pray for coolness
