Life sure changes in the blink of an eye doesn’t it? Last time I posted I was just getting ready to make a trek home to check on my parents, both of whom have Alzeheimers/Dementia. The situation is such that my father is in the hospital receiving treatment and my mother is now in residence with me. She has NO short-term memory so life is suddenly MUCH more challenging.
We will be picking up eggs from the Food Bank on Monday so everyone canvas your neighborhood and social groups to see if you can find us some egg cartons we can divide them up into for delivering. We also need gallon sized zip-lock bags for dividing salads and fruit into for our families.
We will have a 5K Fun Run in early October to raise money to move the donated walk-in coolers and freezers – we’re so excited to be able to feed additional families. As soon as our school social workers come back from their summer break we will begin asking for additional families to serve as a few have moved out of our area. Then when the freezer/coolers get installed and we can store more donations we’ll hopefully begin feeding up to 50 families a week!!!!
The Third Eye Dancers are planning a festival this fall to benefit Meals by Grace too, more on that later! Love them!!!
Gotta, run, shopping to do for tomorrow’s meal! See you then, hope you plan on coming!!!
